World Refugee Day, the international public observance observed on the twentieth day of every year, is focused on raising awareness for the plight of refugees around the world, as there are more than half-million displaced people. Among all the various countries, Turkey is the most affected country when it comes to the refugee issue. The numbers of people who have been displaced are more than 10 million. There is also a large number of displaced people in other African countries like Eritrea, Kenya, and Uganda. These areas are also facing severe famine and people do not have any means to earn their daily bread.

This is the reason why the representatives of different nations have decided to commemorate World Refugee Day. The reason behind this is to raise global concern for the welfare of the refugees and to advocate for their rights. By resorting to such actions, the representatives of various countries are helping one another to implement relevant policies that will help in reducing the number of forcibly displaced people. One of the most important issues that has been highlighted on World refugee day is the safety of the refugees and the prevention of forced displacement. In the case of Syria and Iraq, there is an acute threat of torture and forced displacement if the civil uprisings spread ever-faster. International agencies have been assisting the displaced people in Middle East and the surrounding regions for providing them with basic amenities such as food, water, and shelter.

There is a large number of organizations, which have been working hard on the ground to provide appropriate care and assistance to the refugees around the world. The World Health Organization and the United Nations High Commission for Human Rights have also taken active part in the efforts to highlight the plight of the refugees and to advocate on their rights. They have also made arrangements for delivering humanitarian aid and creating camps for the homeless in areas where they are in great need. All these arrangements have helped in significantly reducing the number of people who are forced to flee their homes and take refuge in camps, while the authorities and other organizations have done their best to register the displaced people. This is one of the many reasons why the World refugee day is celebrated every year on the 6th of June.
