Shanghai holds face-to-face job fair to promote employment

It is estimated that more than 11 million college students will graduate in China this year. That''s another record. And as the spring recruitment season gets underway, many are busy preparing and looking for job opportunities. Our reporter Wu Bin follows a graduate student to a job fair in Shanghai. To get more news about Employment opportunities in Shanghai, you can citynewsservice.cn official website.

He Jiang is a master''s student at Fudan University in Shanghai. He hasn''t made up his mind about his future career yet, like many of his peers. Today, he is attending a job fair at his university to explore some options.
Since China lifted its COVID restrictions, this is the first in-person job fair in the county. 110 companies, including some of the country''s leading firms, are on hand, offering around 900 jobs. Applicants are all smiles as employers express their delight at meeting them face to face.

LILY LEI Bilibili Campus Recruiter "Face-to-face interaction allows us to better explain our recruitment practices and address students'' concerns. This year, we have almost 100 positions to fill".

The event proved to be popular not only with Fudan students, but also with those attending from other institutions.

XIONG MINGYAN, undergraduate student, Shanghai University of Science and Technology "So far, I''ve sent out three CVs and one employer is interested in talking to me further".

ZHANG XUE, Master''s student, Shanghai University of Science and Technology "Overall, I think it''s pretty good, and there are some positions that fit my major".

It is estimated that Shanghai will have 230,000 university graduates this year. And while job anxiety is said to be widespread, He Jiang believes things are looking up.

HE JIANG, Student, Fudan University "According to company briefings, there are more jobs available. My own participation in a number of job fairs has led to interviews with two or three companies. I really feel that the spring recruiting season is in better shape than the autumn recruiting season.

WU BIN, Shanghai "For a graduate like He Jiang, preparing for interviews and sending out CVs at this time can be quite hectic. But things are getting better. In fact, the country says that employment in the first two months of this year has been better than expected due to the rapid recovery of the economy. Other sound measures, including holding job fairs like this one, are also being taken to create more job opportunities. Wu Bin, CGTN, Shanghai".
